Hyundai Palisade review

The Hyundai Palisade enters its second generation as a roomier, more grown-up three-row SUV aimed squarely at families. It pairs a familiar V6 with a brand-new turbo-hybrid option, blending genuine space, a quiet cabin, and a long list of standard tech. Hyundai has sharpened the styling and stretched the wheelbase, so adults actually fit in the third row. It remains one of the segment's strongest value plays without feeling cheap.

On the road, the Palisade prioritizes calm over excitement, and that suits its mission. The carryover 3.5-liter V6 makes a smooth 287 horsepower and never feels strained, though it can sound coarse when pushed and returns unremarkable fuel economy. The real news is the new 2.5-liter turbo-hybrid, which delivers more usable low-end torque, noticeably better mileage, and quieter around-town manners. Both drive through a refined automatic, and all-wheel drive is available across the range.

Inside is where the Palisade earns its keep. The dashboard now runs dual curved displays, materials feel a class above the price, and the second row offers limousine-grade legroom. The longer wheelbase finally makes the third row viable for adults on longer trips, and cargo space behind it is competitive. Storage cubbies, USB-C ports, and available second-row captain's chairs make it genuinely family-friendly.

Ride quality is the headline dynamic trait: bumps are absorbed well and highway cruising is hushed. Handling is secure but soft, with light steering that favors ease over engagement, so keen drivers should look elsewhere. Hyundai's driver-assist suite is comprehensive and works smoothly, and the standard equipment list undercuts most rivals once you compare like for like.

The trade-offs are predictable. The non-hybrid's fuel economy lags the segment's best, the infotainment can feel busy, and top trims climb close to luxury-brand money. But few competitors match the Palisade's blend of space, refinement, and warranty coverage at this price.

Our verdict — The 2026 Palisade is one of the smartest three-row buys for families who want space, comfort, and tech without stepping into luxury pricing. Choose the new hybrid if fuel costs matter; the V6 makes sense only if you tow occasionally or want the lowest entry price.

Perfect for our growing family

We cross-shopped the Telluride and Pilot and the Palisade just felt the nicest inside for the money. The third row actually fits my teenagers, and road trips are quiet and relaxed. Only gripe is the gas mileage on the V6 around town.

The hybrid is the one to get

I went with the SEL Hybrid and I'm averaging low-30s in mixed driving, which is incredible for a vehicle this big. It feels peppier than the V6 in stop-and-go traffic too. Cabin tech is excellent and the seats are super comfortable.

Great value, a few quirks

Loads of space and the interior looks far more expensive than it is. The touchscreen menus can be distracting while driving and I wish the steering had more feel. Still, for the price and the warranty, I'd buy it again.

Alternatives to the Hyundai Palisade

Hyundai Palisade — frequently asked questions

Does the Palisade come with all-wheel drive?

Yes. Front-wheel drive is standard on most gas trims, and HTRAC all-wheel drive is optional across the range and standard on some higher trims and hybrid configurations.

How many people can the Palisade seat?

It seats eight with the standard second-row bench, or seven if you opt for the available second-row captain's chairs on higher trims.

Is the hybrid worth the extra cost?

If you drive a lot in the city or care about fuel costs, yes. The hybrid roughly halves fuel use versus the V6 and feels stronger at low speeds, usually paying back its premium within a few years.

How much can the Palisade tow?

Properly equipped, the V6 Palisade is rated to tow up to about 5,000 pounds, enough for a small camper, boat, or utility trailer.

What warranty does Hyundai offer?

Hyundai includes a 5-year/60,000-mile new-vehicle warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, among the strongest coverage in the segment.

Is the third row usable for adults?

Yes. The longer wheelbase on the new generation makes the third row comfortable for average-sized adults on medium-length trips, which is a step up from many rivals.
