Hyundai Aura
Hyundai's feature-rich, value-packed compact sedan
Hyundai Aura review
The Hyundai Aura takes the Grand i10 Nios hatchback and adds a proper boot, slotting into the sub-four-metre sedan space against the Maruti Dzire and Tata Tigor. It pairs a refined petrol engine, an optional factory CNG kit and a long features list with Hyundai's familiar fit-and-finish. For buyers who want sedan styling and a big boot without crossing four metres, it remains a sensible, well-rounded everyday choice.
On the road the Aura feels exactly like what it is: a comfortable, easygoing city car. The 1.2-litre Kappa petrol is smooth and quiet at low revs, with enough pull for daily commuting and the odd highway run. Performance is adequate rather than exciting, and you do need to work the engine when fully loaded. The 5-speed manual is light and slick, while the AMT automatic prioritises convenience over speed, occasionally pausing during gear changes.
Ride quality is a strong point. The suspension soaks up broken city roads well, and the cabin stays settled at moderate highway speeds. The light steering makes parking effortless, though it offers little feedback when you push harder. Cabin space is generous up front, the boot is genuinely useful at over 400 litres, and rear knee room is decent for two adults, if a touch tight for three.
Where the Aura really scores is equipment and perceived quality. Higher trims get an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a wireless charger, rear AC vents and keyless entry with push-button start. Materials feel a class above many rivals, and the dual-tone dashboard looks neat.
The trade-offs are predictable. The CNG version loses meaningful boot space and power, the AMT isn't the sharpest automatic around, and the styling, while inoffensive, doesn't turn heads. There's also no sunroof, which some buyers now expect even in this segment.

Owner reviews
Great city sedan, easy on fuel
I use it mostly for office commutes and it returns around 18-19 kmpl in city traffic. The cabin is comfortable and the touchscreen works flawlessly with my phone. Wish it had a sunroof but otherwise no complaints.
Boot space is the highlight
We bought the petrol manual for family use and the boot easily swallows our weekend luggage. The ride is soft and comfortable over bad roads. The engine does feel a bit stretched when the car is full of people.
Good car, AMT could be better
The AMT is convenient in traffic but you can feel the lag during gear shifts. Service experience at Hyundai has been smooth and parts are affordable. For the price, it's a solid, dependable sedan.
