Kia EV6
Kia's electric grand tourer for India
Kia EV6 review
The Kia EV6 is the brand's flagship electric crossover in India, blending coupe-like styling with genuine performance and one of the longest real-world ranges in its segment. Built on the dedicated E-GMP platform, it offers ultra-fast 800-volt charging, a roomy cabin and refined road manners. Sold via Kia's premium dealer network, it competes against other high-end EVs rather than mass-market cars, targeting buyers who want a clean, quick and well-equipped electric daily driver.
On the road the EV6 feels every bit a premium EV. The dual-motor GT-Line AWD delivers brisk, near-silent acceleration that pins you back, while the rear-wheel-drive variant trades some urgency for a longer claimed range. Steering is light at city speeds and firms up reasonably on highways, and the low-mounted battery keeps body roll in check. Ride quality is generally absorbent, though sharper potholes do register inside the cabin thanks to the large wheels and firm-ish suspension tune.
The interior is a clear step up from anything else Kia sells here. Twin 12.3-inch curved displays, a clean dashboard, sustainable materials and a panoramic feel make it feel modern and upmarket. Front seats are supportive and the flat floor liberates space, though the sloping roofline eats into rear headroom for taller passengers and the boot, while usable, is not class-leading. Storage cubbies and a useful frunk add practicality.
Where the EV6 truly shines is the charging and range package. The 800V architecture allows 10-80 percent top-ups in roughly 18 minutes on a suitable DC fast charger, far quicker than most rivals. Real-world range comfortably crosses 400 km in mixed driving, easing range anxiety for intercity trips. Safety kit is comprehensive, with multiple airbags, a full ADAS suite and a strong global crash record.
The main caveats are price and access. At over 60 lakh ex-showroom it sits in luxury-car territory, public fast chargers remain patchy outside major cities, and service touchpoints for such a specialised product are limited. For buyers who can charge at home and live in metros, though, the ownership case is strong.

Owner reviews
Effortless long-distance EV
I do regular Mumbai-Pune runs and the EV6 makes them stress-free. The fast charging is genuinely quick when I find a good charger, and the cabin feels properly premium. My only gripe is the firm ride over broken roads.
Quick and quiet, but pricey
Performance from the AWD is addictive and it's whisper quiet in the city. Rear headroom is tight for my taller friends and the price is steep, but I charge at home so running costs are tiny.
Future-proof daily driver
Real range easily crosses 400 km for me in mixed driving. The tech, the seats and the build all feel a class above. Public chargers outside metros are still hit or miss, so plan trips accordingly.

Kia EV6 — frequently asked questions
What is the real-world range of the Kia EV6?
While Kia claims up to around 528 km on the RWD variant, expect a comfortable 380-430 km in mixed real-world driving, varying with climate control use, speed and traffic.
How fast can the EV6 charge?
Thanks to its 800V architecture, a 10-80 percent top-up takes roughly 18 minutes on a capable DC fast charger. A home AC wall box typically charges it fully overnight.
Is the EV6 available with all-wheel drive?
Yes. The GT-Line AWD uses dual motors for all-wheel drive and stronger acceleration, while the standard GT-Line is rear-wheel drive and offers more range.
How many people can the EV6 seat?
The EV6 is a five-seat crossover. The flat floor improves space, though the coupe-like roof slightly reduces rear headroom for tall passengers.
Does the EV6 come with ADAS?
Yes, it offers a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite including adaptive cruise, lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring on offered variants.
Is the EV6 practical for Indian cities?
For metro buyers with home or office charging it is very usable, with low running costs and easy city manners. Outside major cities, plan around the still-developing public fast-charging network.
